VBOX analysis
VBOX data analysis, free in your browser
The .vbo format of Racelogic is recorded by the VBOX loggers and exported by many lap timers and apps (RaceBox, RaceChrono, Harry's LapTimer...). LapViz Studio opens it in the browser, on Windows, macOS, Linux or a Chromebook, and the 3D replay brings it back to life on the satellite view of the circuit.
What LapViz reads in a VBO file
The text format of Racelogic, read on your computer.
- GPS position, speed, heading and altitude
- The other channels of the file, with their names: accelerations, revs, OBD or analog inputs when they were recorded
- Date and device of the session, from the header of the file
Laps on the known circuits
LapViz does not read the lap timing settings of the file: it calculates the laps from the GPS track, on the circuits it knows.
- Laps and sectors calculated on the circuits known by LapViz
- The same timing for every logger, comparable on the leaderboards
- A missing circuit can be submitted from the circuits page
Analyse and compare
The views of a data analysis software, in the browser.
- Overlay of laps and sessions, delta and track map
- Computed channels, scatter, G-G diagram and histogram
- On-board video synchronized with the data
From the logger to LapViz
Every .vbo file works, whatever recorded it.

LapViz Studio
The analysis in your browser: the file is read on your computer and is not uploaded.
- Your laps overlaid, from several sessions and drivers, with the delta
- Every channel of the logger, by time or by distance
- Sectors, rolling best and ideal lap, track map on the satellite view
- On-board video synchronized with the data
3D replay
Your laps on the satellite view of the circuit, like in a racing game. The file is converted to be replayed, not kept.
- Every lap against the ghost of your best lap
- A second file as the ghost: race against a team-mate or a rival
- Chase, onboard and helicopter cameras, speed, revs and live gap
- The sound of the engine, following the revs of the session
Keep your sessions with a free account
Import your files into LapViz to find them everywhere and compare yourself with the others.
- Every session kept, on the web and in the LapViz app
- Leaderboards per circuit and category
- Corner by corner analysis of every lap
- Sessions shared with your coach or your team
Frequently asked questions
Is there free software to analyse VBOX data?
Yes. LapViz Studio opens the .vbo files in the browser for free, on Windows, macOS, Linux and ChromeOS: lap overlay, delta, channels, G-G diagram and 3D replay. Keep the Racelogic software to configure your VBOX.
Why are there no laps in my session?
LapViz calculates the laps of a VBO file from the GPS track, on the circuits it knows. Elsewhere, the session opens without laps: submit the circuit from the circuits page.
Which channels are read?
The GPS position, speed, heading and altitude, and every other column of the file, with its name.
Which apps export VBO?
Among others RaceBox, RaceChrono and Harry's LapTimer. When an app offers VBO and GPX, choose VBO: it keeps more channels.
Is it free?
Yes. The Studio and the 3D replay are free and work without an account; the LapViz account is free too.
Also in the LapViz suite

- RaceBox analysis Open the CSV exports of your RaceBox Mini or Micro: laps, GPS track, speed, G-forces and lap comparison, then compare yourself with the other drivers.
- LapViz Studio Analyse the files of your data logger or lap timer in the browser, also offline: lap overlay, delta, channels, track map, math channels and on-board video.
