RaceChrono analysis

RaceChrono data analysis on your computer

RaceChrono times your laps on the phone. To analyse them on a computer, export the session as a .rcz file (or in VBO) and open it in LapViz Studio: the laps of RaceChrono are kept, overlay them, read your channels, then replay the session in 3D on the satellite view of the circuit.

What LapViz reads

The .rcz session file of RaceChrono, read by your browser.

  • Laps of RaceChrono, kept as they are
  • GPS position, speed, heading and altitude
  • Sessions with external devices or OBD: not read from the .rcz yet, export them in VBO

Laps on the known circuits

LapViz calculates the laps from the GPS track, on the circuits it knows.

  • Laps and sectors comparable with the other drivers of the circuit
  • Rolling best and ideal lap from the best sectors
  • A missing circuit can be submitted from the circuits page

Beyond the phone screen

The analysis of a computer.

  • Overlay of laps and sessions, with the delta
  • Computed channels, scatter and G-G diagram
  • On-board video synchronized with the data
  • 3D replay against the ghost of your best lap or of another driver

LapViz Studio

The analysis in your browser: the file is read on your computer and is not uploaded.

  • Sectors, rolling best and ideal lap, track map on the satellite view
  • On-board video synchronized with the data

3D replay

Your laps on the satellite view of the circuit, like in a racing game. The file is converted to be replayed, not kept.

  • Chase, onboard and helicopter cameras, speed, revs and live gap
  • The sound of the engine, following the revs of the session

Frequently asked questions

How do I analyse RaceChrono data on a PC?

Export the session as a .rcz file from RaceChrono, then drop the file in LapViz Studio, in the browser of a PC or a Mac: free, nothing to install.

Which RaceChrono export should I choose?

The .rcz session file: it keeps the laps of RaceChrono. A session recorded with external devices or OBD is not read from the .rcz yet: export it in VBO, which keeps the other channels. GPX only has the position, the speed and the altitude.

Are the laps of RaceChrono kept?

Yes, from the .rcz file: the laps of RaceChrono are kept as they are. On a circuit known by LapViz, the laps are also calculated from the GPS for the leaderboards. The VBO and GPX exports have no laps: LapViz calculates them on the circuits it knows.

Why is my circuit not found?

Without laps in the file, LapViz calculates them on the circuits it knows only. A missing circuit can be submitted from the circuits page.

Does LapViz replace RaceChrono?

No. RaceChrono times your laps on track, LapViz analyses them afterwards. To time your laps with an app of LapViz, there is the LapViz app.

Is it free?

Yes. The Studio and the 3D replay are free and work without an account; the LapViz account is free too.
